Situated in Andaman sea, 60km from the Thai mainland and only 30 km from Langkawi, Malaysia, Koh Lipe is also known as the “Maldives of Thailand. If you are not a fan of crowded place like other islands in Thailand, then you are going to love this beautiful island!
Summer vacay is for relaxing, planning some adventures and taking the much needed break from our regular routines; which is also why it’s the perfect place to go! There are no cars and just a few motorbikes on Koh Lipe, so getting around can only be done by foot! Did you know, the island is only 2km long and 1 km wide? Therefore to walk from one beach to another, won’t take more than 30 mins!
Things to Do #1 - Explore the island

The infamous street called “Walking Street” and the three major beaches: Pattaya, Sunset, and Sunrise. Along the Walking Street, you will find many restaurants, massage parlours and shops

Pattaya Beach, the most hyped beach in the island is a stunning large sheltered beach spot with powdery white sand and it consists one giant “pool” to swim in.

The two spot to watch the Sunrise and Sunset.
Set the alarm and enjoy the sunrise to kick start the day. Literally called as Sunrise beach, where you can watch the sunrise. The pleasant breeze and sound of the shore….
During the evening, head to the west side of the island and enjoy the sunset since there’s a few bars and resto at Sunset Beach. There is also a camping area, which gives it a slightly hippy atmosphere and, as the name suggests, it’s the perfect spot from which to watch the sunset.

While in Koh Lipe, you are surely going island-hopping and be taken to a few stunning islands with interesting rock formations, see wildlife, including lizards and monkeys, see the extraordinary bioluminescent planktons as you find incredible spots for snorkeling and swimming.
Things to do #4 - Get a Birds-Eye View of the Island!

Hike up the mountain on Koh Adang, opposite island of Koh Lipe, to get a full view of the “Maldives of Thailand”. With all the good foods that has been indulged, a 40 mins exercise that comes with a spectacular view is just another bonus for the trip! PS: The boat ride to Koh Adang is about 20 mins and the hike is suitable for most, as from the arrival point, you can easily find the trail that leads up. So there’s literally no excuse for you saying no, lol!

Things to do #6 - Visit Maya Bar, the cool bar!
In Koh Lipe, nightlife is relatively quiet with most of the bars closing around midnight. However, if you want good music and dance and socialise, Maya Bar, the coolest bar is your place. Situated right in the center of the Walking Street.
Maya Bar has two levels, with a dance floor, lounge chairs, lovely decoration, exquisite drinks and a fantastic atmosphere. The crowd is diversed and sometimes there is live music. Happy Hour is between 5:00 and 8:00 pm, with most people arriving between 7 and 8 pm. No better way to finish the day in Koh Lipe!
Things to do #7 - Bar hopping around places to chill and grab a drink!
There are some really nice beach bars and restaurants all over Koh Lipe, along with the good music, the crowd friendly, the food and drink reasonably priced and the amazing view. (Scroll down to see the list!)
